Glass Top Computer Desk

Having my own workspace at home is essential. I used to have an ultra-traditional antique desk, but since my little home office is in the basement, I thought I might break my rules a little bit, and look towards a computer desk with modern sensibilities. I love the styling and the openness of the Mission Glass Top Computer Desk by OSP. The classic mission design has a contemporary look with a glass top and a slide-out keyboard drawer. There is a bit of storage space in between the glass top and the keyboard tray for smaller items, like office supplies. Now all I need is a filing cabinet, especially one on wheels, to make my home office complete. Lawn service Louisiana

Mobile Serving Cart

Spring is finally here--according to the calendar--and after a long and snowy winter, I am looking forward to getting outside. Once the weather warms up, we will spend countless hours outside working in the yard, having meals and just enjoying the sunshine. The Achla Mobile Serving Cart is so versatile it can go from the kitchen to the garden, and to the patio too. I can use the cart to help me get my new plantings where they need to go in the yard, or I can serve food fresh from the grill to my family and friends, indoors or out. The top tray is removable, which makes it great for passing hors d'oeuvres or carrying lunch outside to the deck. The bottom shelf has holes to fit three pots. The serving cart is available in Antique White and Eucalyptus finishes and folds up for easy storage.

Composter

I've been thinking about composting. It really wouldn't be that difficult to do if I had the right tools, and it would be so beneficial to the environment. Yard cleanup would be so much easier too. The Achla Designs Spinning Composter is made of recycled plastic and has a capacity of 7 cubic feet. Mixing blades break up the larger clumps. The composter features a sliding door that allows easy access but also prevents animals from getting in. Composting saves money on fertilizer, because you're making your own, but also lessens the amount of waste dumped into the landfill, which is a great idea.

Revolving Wine Rack

I am always looking for the perfect wine rack to hold a smaller wine collection. I never have more than half a dozen bottles of wine on hand at any one time. Counter space isn't plentiful in my kitchen, so that means the wine rack I choose needs to work on the floor. The Heritage Revolving Wine Rack from Butler is compact in size, but displays wine bottles beautifully. The small table top is a great place to put a plant or a sculpture or some other item for display. The wine rack revolves on the base, so I can reach any bottle without any trouble. Made of solid woods, rattan and metal, this wine rack holds eight bottles of my favorite wine.

Baker's Rack

My kitchen isn't large enough for a baker's rack, but I think I might have room just inside the dining room. The style of the Parsley Baker's Rack from Powell would fit right in with my Southwestern-style farmhouse furniture. I like the open feeling and all the storage options. The baker's rack is made of steel and has three tempered glass shelves, a 6-bottle wine rack, four stemware holders and one grillwork shelf. The lower shelf would be ideal for a plant or a decorative floral arrangement. The storage and design possibilities are endless--I can already imagine several different ways I can use this baker's rack in my home.

Mounted Garage Vacuum

If I had this Surface Mounted GarageVac from InterVac, I wouldn't worry so much about all the pet hair in my car. With a 60-pound German Shepherd/Husky mix there's a lot of light hair. She sheds constantly, so frequent vacuuming is a given if I want to drive anyone else anywhere in my car. So much easier to maneuver than a shop vac for cleaning the car, a wall-mounted vacuum enables me to clean my car without even leaving the garage. The 12 amp motor is powerful and has 100" of water lift, so it can also keep the garage, boat or RV clean. The HEPA filtration system removes dust particles and allergens. The central vacuum comes with a 1-piece wand, a bare floor tool, a dust brush, an upholstery brush and a crevice tool for additional cleaning power.

Mirrored Bathroom Vanity

This New Hollywood Sink Chest from Cole & Co. recalls the glamour days of the 30s with its Art Deco style and opulence. What a way to take the bathroom from ho-hum to hot stuff! The mirrored sides and front catch the light and reflect the colors in the room. Beaded detail and gold rub on the trim and hardware add quiet sophistication. A bath vanity of this design commands all the attention in the bathroom and demands an elegant decorative theme.

Outdoor Lounge Chair

Now that most of us are in Daylight Savings Time, spring and warmer weather are surely on their way. Thoughts of planning my garden and updating my outdoor furniture are filling my head. I can't think of a better method of catching some vitamin D than sitting outside on a comfortable chair with a good book and some tasty refreshments (and lots of sunscreen, of course). The Woodstock Outdoor Lounge Chair from Covington is made in the Adirondack style from mixed hardwoods. The matching ottoman provides the perfect place to rest your feet. I also like the matching coffee table because it keeps my drinks, snacks and reading material handy. The teak finish gives it a classic look, but the chair is also available in white, red blue or green finishes to brighten up the garden, patio or pool area.

3-Panel Pegboard Workbench Kit

Maybe I'd hang out in the garage more if it looked like this...The pegboard hanging over the workbench is dusty and dirty and has definitely seen better days. It would be so much easier to tackle those projects around the house if I could find all the tools. The 3-Panel Standard Metal Pegboard Workbench Kit from Simply Organized comes with three 16" x 32" combo panels, a 9" shelf with panels, a 6" shelf, three plastic bins, a screwdriver holder and assorted hooks and brackets to keep everything in view and in its place. Garage organization was never so easy. The panels are available in white, black or galvanized finishes too, so you can coordinate them with the colors in your garage if it's a finished one, or add some zip to a plain old garage setting.

Home Recycling Center

Did you ever stop and think how much trash we produce in a day? a week? a year? Where does it all go? I'd like to think we're recycling as much as we can, but I bet there's probably more that we can do. I look at the bottom of every plastic container to see if it's what my local transfer station accepts. If it isn't, then I have to throw it in with the trash. Paper shopping bags full of newspapers from the last few months line the back wall in the dining room, waiting to be carted off. There are way too many to put out with the recyclables every other week. The Premium Home Recycling Center from Mode offers space for bottles and paper and also compacts cans and plastic bottles for extra storage room. The recycling center comes with nesting bins that make it easy to carry all your recyclables in one trip, and has a programmable reminder that lets you know when it's recycling day. The front loading paper bin holds newspapers and there is a slot on top where you can drop your mail. Recycling may seem like an extra step, but I think it's really worth it, especially knowing how much of what we consume can be reused in some way or another.

Game Table

We always had a collection of games at home, including a chess set. I've always wanted to learn how to play, but somehow I never did. My parents were avid card players, especially bridge. They would invite all their friends over for an evening of cards every so often and the house would be filled with laughter and yummy food. So the idea of games was a constant one in my growing-up years. A game table adds an element of fun to a living room or den, but also creates a great little area for conversation. The Wood Game Table from Butler Specialty Company reminds me of a chess table you might find in the library of a great estate. The chess and checkers board folds out from the top, and there is a drawer for the checkers and hand-carved chess pieces that are included. This game table also makes a great accent table with a star design on top and carved details. I do like the idea of a game table. I think it brings us back to a simpler time.

Glass Towel Warmer

Towel warmers have been around for quite awhile, but I have never seen them made with tempered glass. The glass offers a transparent quality that adds elegance and increases the perception of space. The Thermique Heated Glass Towel Warmer runs on electricity and needs to be hardwired into your electrical system by a professional electrician, but looks so good in any bathroom. Several different finishes are available. A towel warmer will keep towels from getting that mildew smell when they aren't completely dry. And who wouldn't love the idea of a heated towel waiting for you as you step out of the shower or bath?

Canister Vacuum Cleaner

I'm beginning to think it's time for a new vacuum cleaner. I've had the same canister vac for the past eight years, and while I know a good vacuum cleaner is supposed to last, I also know that the technology has improved since I last purchased one. These days, vacuum cleaners are much more clean-air conscious and feature HEPA filters to keep the fine dust particles from returning to the air. Canister vacuums have always been my choice, primarily because I think they're less cumbersome. The Electrolux Oxygen 3 Ultra Canister Vacuum has MicroSeal HEPA filtration and is designed for carpets and hard floors. I love the bright red color too.
